Gas'n Glass Neon was started by Roger Schurman in 1988. He converted the garage outside his home north of Vancouver, Washington into his first neon shop where he began providing the Portland / Vancouver metropolitan area with carefully crafted neon signs.
In 1989 Gas’n Glass made its first point-of-purchase (POP) neon signs for the newly emerging “micro brewers” in the Pacific Northwest. Larger “beer sign” manufacturers required minimum orders that were out of reach for most of these small businesses. By producing quality signs in small quantities on a schedule in line with their modest budgets, Gas’n Glass provided these micro breweries with affordable neon beer signs as eye catching as those used by major breweries around the world.
During the 1990’s Gas’n Glass worked to refine its production capabilities focusing on quality and safety in its neon signs and products. In order to produce brighter, longer lasting tubes, investments were made in state-of-the-art processing equipment. Gas’n Glass Neon also qualified its products for national electrical safety certifications and currently carries the ETL label.
Gas’n Glass continued to grow, making POP signs for other regional businesses, as well as providing tube bending and neon repair services to other sign companies in the area. In 1998, Gas'n Glass began shipping its neon signs throughout the country for a nationally expanding pizza franchise. Having outgrown its original shop, Gas'n Glass moved to a new 3200 square foot facility early in 1999.
Today Gas'n Glass continues to focus on neon for windows, interiors and POP, working with companies large and small. It has also begun designing a line of neon products for sale over the internet. Gas’n Glass continues to update its facility to keep in step with changes in technology and electrical safety requirements. With more than 20 years of experience, Gas’n Glass remains committed to providing its customers with quality neon signs and service.
